Important Field Changes
The association is excited to announce big changes to our field utilization starting this spring.
After numerous meetings and brainstorming sessions with the City of Ft. Worth, NFWASA board members have finalized an agreement and field layout that works for the needs of both parties. Most importantly for NFWASA this means all age groups will play their home games at North Park effective March 1, 2008; moving U5-U8 age groups from Chisholm. The Chisholm location has served NFWASA quite well and been vital to the growth over the years with special thanks to the Bridge Community Church, the City of Ft. Worth and KISD. However, the required maintenance of these fields has put a great strain on NFWASA as well, distracting the board from being able to focus on other critical areas important to the future of the association.
The North Park fields are in excellent condition and maintained at the highest level of maintenance for City athletic fields and will allow NFWASA to begin a new era of soccer in the area. NFWASA also benefits by the fact that they are fenced and locked, thus lessening the potential for vandalism. There will most likely be new growing pains with this move, particularly for parking and we ask for everyone's patience and recognition of the big picture. There is extra parking extending north all the way to the baseball field, and the center grass area west of the hockey rink can be used for overflow parking. In addition, there are plans in the near future to pave parking in place of the center grass area affiliated also with the YMCA that will begin construction west of the baseball field.
With respect to Chisholm, all of the goals not permanently mounted will be removed and relocated to North Park. Goals will remain on fields 1, 2, 7, 8 & 9. NFWASA will no longer maintain these fields nor be involved with scheduling for practices. However, they will be available for practice play on a first come first served basis. NFWASA may consider mowing monthly, but that decision will be made at a later date.
